General Information

Electricity

To minimize our environmental impact, our camps operate on solar power. While solar lamps are provided for lighting, studying at night can be challenging. We recommend bringing a headlamp or a battery-operated lamp for better visibility. Generators are used to charge batteries at each camp, but these are primarily for camp operations and not for personal electronics. Students are permitted to charge devices when the generator is running, but this is at their own risk.

Beverages

A selection of beverages is available for purchase at our camps, payable by cash only. Cordial fruit juices are served with meals, and tea and coffee are available throughout the day.

Drinking Water

Safe drinking water is available from boreholes at all our camps. Bottled water is also available for purchase at some locations.

Laundry Services

A basic hand-washing laundry service is provided at all camps for a nominal fee.

Parking

Designated parking areas are available at certain camps. Please inquire with our office for specific details.

Health and Safety

Malaria: As most of the camps are located in high-risk malaria areas, we strongly recommend consulting your doctor about appropriate preventative measures and using a good insect repellent during your stay. We cannot provide medical advice, but your doctor can offer guidance on medication options.

Medical Information: Before your trip, visit a doctor for a general check-up and ensure you have a sufficient supply of any personal medication you require. We cannot arrange for medication delivery to the camps.

Visas and Travel Documents

Valid Passport: A valid passport is mandatory for travel.

Visa Requirements: You are solely responsible for obtaining the necessary visas for your trip. We cannot be held accountable for denied entry due to missing documentation. We recommend contacting the relevant embassy or your local travel agent for visa information.

Travel with Minors: For travelers under 18, South African and foreign nationals are required to present unabridged birth certificates. This regulation aims to protect children and prevent trafficking.
